As Yangon continues to open up to foreign trade, some areas of the city stubbornly refuse to change. Every day, thousands of coconuts and bananas arrive at the port. Between moored ships and the port, young men stand on both sides offloading the produce. Relentless splashes of itchy heat bathe port workers' backs from the early hours of the morning until the afternoon. (Click on the image for a slideshow if cropped).
Workers rest and eat when they can, mingling with other sleepers catching a nap before their next portcall.
